In this paper stability of digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms of coherent receiver to the rapid polarization rotation caused by lightning stroke in an optical power ground wearer (OPWG) by numerical simulation has been investigated. It is found that the rate of polarisation state (PS) change is the most important parameter determining the increase in the receiver bit error rate (BER). A detailed analysis of the DSP algorithms operation under the conditions of fast SP rotation has shown that the reason of the error rate growth is the limited speed of resynchronization and adaptive filtering blocks.
