Multibeam and Scanning Antennas: Development for Satellite Systems over the Last 20 Years
A comprehensive analysis is conducted on design methods development, calculation, and practical implementation of spherical reflector antennas with multibeam systems from 2005 to 2025. The theoretical foundations of hybrid-reflector configurations, evolution of reflector array technologies, and application of these technologies in satellite communication systems in various orbits—from geo stationary (GEO) to low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites and megaconstellations are considered. Special attention is given to compensating spherical aberration methods, techniques for controlling radiation patterns and polarization characteristics, as well as an analysis of transitional forms between classical systems and modern intelligent reflective surfaces based on metamaterials. A critical analysis of the applicability of different antenna technologies in the context of satellite systems is carried out.
