Nothing in technological progress or scientific discovery is a foregone conclusion. They require additional effort, energy, funding and effective utilisation. But first and foremost, they require an uninhibited scientific and engineering mindset that paves the way to the new, overcoming established dogmas and a growing number of barriers. As the expert community notes, unlike in the last century, the volume of implemented innovations has decreased in the present day, and there are both objective and subjective reasons for the observed stagnation. Something must be done about all this, because only innovation in various fields creates the future.
