This series of papers examines integrated packet-optical solutions such as IPoDWDM/ IPoOLS/P-OTS (Packet-Optical Transport System) for data transmission over optical channels of OTN/DWDM systems with capacities ranging from 100 to 800 Gbit/s and above, as well as the management of an open network built using equipment from different manufacturers. The first part deals with the dynamic routing of packet-oriented connections over channels (wavelengths) of fiber optic transmission systems (FOTS), the second with the functional purpose of the network layers of an integrated packet-optical transport infrastructure, and the third with implementation options. The fourth part of the series is devoted to the standardisation and evolution of solutions for high-capacity integrated packet-optical transport networks.
