The architecture of functional nodes of quantum key distribution (QKD) systems for implementing end-to-end encryption in optical communication channels is considered. The theoretical foundations of QKD protocols are presented. The multi-level architecture of QKD systems is analyzed. The principle of their interaction with classical cryptographic algorithms to ensure end-to-end data encryption is described.
